Welcome to the Producer Team! Here’s what you need to know before you can begin serving as a producer.

What does the Producer do?

Let’s start with the Producer is not:

In the past, the Producer was the most knowledgeable technician on the team—the best troubleshooter or audio mixer. That’s not what we’re looking for! We need volunteers who can help staff lead other volunteers.

The Producer is the volunteer who leads the Production Team to execute the pastors’ vision for Sunday morning with our church alongside the church staff! The producer leads the Production Team to support the worship leaders and pastors. That means keeping clear lines of communication, leading through high value transitions, and completing specific tasks to make sure everything goes well—as well as being able to respond to technical issues or emergency situations.

Leading a team requires confidence, humility, and knowing the big picture. Your job on Sunday morning is vital to the whole team the way an air traffic controller is to an airport. There are so many moving pieces that no one person can keep it all together—no pastor, no staff member, no volunteer, etc. So the role of a Producer is to help the pastors and staff direct traffic on the Production Team to accomplish the service order with the Worship Team.

How am I going to grow as a Producer?

Here are the three skillsets we’re going to develop in our producers:

 1. Leadership ability: The main role for a Producer is to lead other volunteers. Thankfully, leadership is a skill you can grow!
 2. People skills: As a Producer, you’ll interact not just with volunteers, but with pastors and church members and staff and visitors—potentially everyone! It takes good people skills to be able to communicate clearly and appropriately with the team and others involved with making Sunday morning happen.
 3. Technical competencies: The Production Team uses tech to support the ministry of the church, so if you’re going to be a leader on this team your technical competency cannot be the bottleneck for the team. We’re going to grow over time in our ability to apply technology to church worship, but you may need to work on this faster if you’re moving up in leadership quickly!

Emergency Procedures

These procedures are listed on the post board at front of house. Producers are able to communicate information to everyone who needs it easier and faster than anyone else, so it is good to be prepared for an emergency situation. Read the page below to familiarize yourself with potential scenarios to be prepared for! These are also available on the Producer Dashboard.
