The ProPresenter op is responsible for displaying lyrics, scripture, and more on our screens to make it easier for our congregation to participate in Sunday morning worship through the Word.

Our church believes that the Sunday morning gathering is a gift from God that has two purposes: to join in his rightful praise to the glory of Jesus, and to be transformed by the Word of God as he promises to do. Having song lyrics on the screen makes it easier for people to sing together. Having scripture on the screens makes the Word more accessible.

ProPresenter Overview (33:21)

This video from Renewed Vision is a fantastic overview of the program for volunteers. In Level 1-4 we’ll continue to learn more techniques about our context at Rock Point, especially navigating our macros and lighting cues with confidence.

FAQ & Important Notes

How do I advance slides?

You can advance slides either by clicking on them with the mouse, by using the spacebar, or by using the right arrow (next)/left arrow (previous). We set up ProPresenter with linear cues—i.e. there’s no need to skip around with the mouse, although sometimes you may feel more confident using the mouse and that’s okay!

<aside> ⚠️ *Note: It takes two presses on the spacebar/arrows to navigate from the last slide of one presentation to the first of the next presentation—one press to advance to the presentation, and another to display the first slide.

How does ProPresenter control lighting?

Icons_Macros.webp

ProPresenter uses macros to change configurations of screens, timers, and lighting changes. Whenever you advance to a slide with a macro, that macro will engage those configuration changes in the background. Macros with lighting cues effectively click a button on the LightKey computer.

<aside> ⚠️ *Note: If you accidentally trigger that macro slide twice, the lights may seem turn off. That’s because clicking an active button in LightKey turns that button off. It’s an easy fix! Just click the slide again and it will engage the button in LightKey again.

How do I know if the lights are wrong?

Typically, if you accidentally double-click a lighting macro slide, the house lights will turn completely off. If the sconce lights on the sides of the Worship Center turn off at any point of the service, there’s a missing cue or a double-clicked cue—we’re never going to have a completely dark Worship Center! That’s not the look or feeling we want to use to communicate. You can also reach over to the LightKey computer and click on the section of the service we’re at when you feel confident enough (but don’t worry, that’s a Level 2 troubleshooting thing we’ll practice)! You can also use the panic button or lighting cues loaded on the StreamDeck beside the ProPresenter station.

What if the song is out of order?

Song lyrics are ordered by arrangements (the icon highlighted in blue in the screenshot below) and can be reordered on the fly! We keep arrangements saved on the left (such as this “Hillsong United” arrangement). We try to ensure these are accurate before rehearsal but you may need to adjust in the moment!
