Startup & Shutdown

Being a technical genius is not the role of the Producer, but we won’t let your technical know-how be your ceiling. Here’s a link to all startup/shutdown lists for AVL systems in the church.

Cue-to-Cue Sample Script

Q2Q is one of the most high-value opportunities for the Producer to lead the team. Below is a sample script of how to lead through Cue-to-Cue.

Wednesday Rehearsal Checklist

If you can make it to Wednesday rehearsal, that’ll help you feel confident before Sunday, so here’s what to do on Wednesday!

Wednesday Checklist

Know the Service Order

Your number one way to prepare for Sunday is to know the service order backwards and forwards. We have a general template that we operate from because our pastors have helped us develop a liturgy (read: “order of service”) that encourages Gospel growth even in the way it’s ordered. It’s likely you know generally how that works—but as a Producer, you need to know it. You especially need to know what’s different from the normal template.

Knowing the service order helps you prepare to lead the team. They are focused on accomplishing the technical specifics of their role: the timing of graphics, the sound of the mix, etc. You keep the big picture in mind.

Here are some questions to ask as you read the service order:

How do I lead through transitions?

Nailing transitions takes foresight, communication, and precision—but it makes such a huge difference in the way a service feels. We’re not trying to schedule a perfectly-timed show, but we do want to lead the congregation well. Transitioning well from element to element helps the congregation stay engaged!
